Meeting Minutes 3/7/17

We hope you all are having a great week so far! To all who are attending this week’s club trip, have a blast!! Below are the notes from our March Club Meeting & updates for the upcoming weeks. 

Ice Breaker Answers: Justin- wear a protective vest, Andy- show up with fuel and oil, Mark H- keep a spring tool with you, Ross- bring Justin with you to help you get unstuck, Tom B- bring a tech vest and an avalanche pack, Steve- ride with a tech vest, Nancy- carry a shovel and saw if you go out west, Deb- always look at your map, Wendy- use a GPS, Kurt- don’t text and drive, Mark- bite harder – use to sharpen your carbides, Scott- ice picks, Noel- dry socks, John- don’t pass up the gas station, Kathy- had snowmobile in the 60s, Sue- don’t have time to snowmobile, Larry- not good at thinking, Chris- general snowmobile maintenance between rides, Mark- when you load your Ski Doo snowmobile detach your lanyard from your jacket and set it on the snowmobile, Doug- make sure your battery is charged if you go out the first trip, Ron- wear a heated helmet on a cold day, JD- don’t act like a fool on the trails, Dean- thermosel boot heaters, Dan- carry a turn kit & quick lot, Dawn- bring a tow strap, Amanda- make sure to pack extras , Tom- bring a tool kit

1) Budget Updates Dean Mitchell

  1. Joy & Amanda gave the check from the Holiday Party to the Westonka Food Shelf on Saturday during their fundraiser at Jubilee.
  2. Joy attended the Chaska Sno-Hawks Benefit and presented the $500 donation for Kevin Lehse  raised $17,000 for medical bills
  3. 43 Members

2) Nomination for 2017-2018 Elections

  1. 1 Member at Large position is open for nomination – Mark Heuer was nominated for this position.
  2. VP is open for nomination – JD Tomzak was nominated for this position.

3) Vintage Show Review Ross & Sue

  1. Thank you to all of our volunteers!! 2rd largest vintage show yet. 1stwas Arctic Cat & Polaris. 1,100 hamburgers, 31 gallons of chili, 6,000 attendance for the weekend, John – chair of Vintage show provided club with $2,500 check. Man hours for the weekend– 2,542 hours, $12,500 donation to SW Trails
  2. Kudos to Mark Locken & Andy Anderson for volunteering all weekend long.

4) Trail Updates Mark Locken

  1. De-marking soon due to warm weather. Woodland Cove & Grimm Road field need to be dealt with before the others
  2. Proposed de-marking on April 15, lunch provided after. If weather does not permit, backup date is April 22.

5) Trip Planning Kurt Silton

March Club Trip – March 16 – 19, 2017

We drive up tomorrow to the Parkview Lodge in Toivola, Michigan and stay overnight.   You will be able to leave your truck and trailer here. Next morning, we will meet in the parking lot at 8:30 am sharp!! We will ride to the tip of the Keweenaw Peninsula in Copper Harbor.  We will stay overnight in Copper Harbor at the Pines Resort which is home to the Zik’s bar.  We ride back to Parkview Lodge the next day. We will stay overnight again, then drive home on Sunday, March 19.

Adopt A Highway– Tuesday, April 11 @ 6PM Sharp. Weather dependent

Trail De-Marking–  Saturday, April 15 (if weather does not cooperate- April 22)

Summer Events:

Haydays Raffle Tickets– Volunteers to sell tickets. They are available in July.

Spirit of the Lakes Festival Parade– July 22

Maxwell Bay Boat Tie-up– Sunday, August 6

Haydays 51st Annual– September 9-10
