Meeting Minutes 10/01/2019

Posted by on October 4, 2019

Greetings all!

Just a quick recap of the October meeting from the acting secretary (poorly)

Intro’s were made and summer activities bragged about

We had a new Member, Dave Stepanek. Welcome! (Dave and I have been riding locally for years. He’s a lot of fun) I’ll attempt to bring a couple other new recruits next time. You do too?

All had a great time at the Deck party (thanks Ross) and the very well attended tie up

The budget was approved

Vintage show folks represented, invited us to work at the new location and a show hands indicates a lot of interest. Maybe we won’t be so broke after all…

Ross gave region 8 meeting highlights. Sounds like the farms will be out late this year so signs will likely go in a bit later. Plans differed until the November meeting

Club trips

Mark has a great club trip in store. Flyers handed out but if any one needs one, let me know. Details are also available on this site under Events.

Ross is going to plan a trip with non riding spouses included. Lutsen or someplace else TBD

Andy may well be setting a smaller one up for Antler. Good times up there!

Adopt a highway is on for next Tuesday 6pm. The signup sheet is looking good. Come early for a beverage. Also, I will bring the trailer to gather up the full bags. No need to stink up your car!

We still have need for a secretary. (look how easy this is, and from memory no less) C’mon gang!

Plans for the holiday party were differed until next meeting. No one jumped to plan it.

Using closed Facebook groups for better member communication on rides, events, etc. is in full effect thanks to Chad. I recommend taking advantage of this to enjoy full club participation. Let Chad or myself know if you require assistance.

Kenneth Schindler from the Snowmads expressed need for trail clearing help on Saturday 10/26. Meet at Monies 9am if you can help. I’m going, are you? He also seems interested in shared club events. Maybe a meet n greet at that sweet new clubhouse of theirs off the Luce Line. I will attach his full text at the end of this email.

That’s about all I remember kids.

See you Tuesday or at the next meeting,

Remember, “Make Snowblazers Fun Again”!

Hi Westonka,

I was going to make a guest appearance at your meeting tomorrow, but I have a traveling wife, so you only get an email!

The Snomads are committed to keeping trails open and  connections to Lake Minnetonka.   We have a new trail to put in this fall to continue access into Baker Park, which is crucial for our trail system.   We have a very small group of active members that make these trails happen, and we need help!

The Snomads along with NWTRAILS are having a trail work day Saturday, October 26.   Meeting 9am at Monie’s in Maple Plain.   The main focus of the work day is going to be brush brush brush, concentrating on trails from lorretto to the luce line and Jennings bay.   Four wheelers, utvs, chainsaws, gloves and enthusiasm are welcome!

We would really appreciate any and all help!  Questions/inqueries can call/text me at 952-288-0088 or email me at schindler@umbilden.com, or snow@mpsnomads.

Let’s keep communication open between our clubs – share events and updates, etc.   I’m sure our membership is open to extending reciprocity to our events to your membership (we don’t need to steal members – people can join where they want).   I’m personally curious about what is going on with the Lmcd and the winter rules update.  I would love to see some organization come to the lake in the form of marked trails, but I don’t have the bodies to make that happen…. Yet.
