Club Trip to L’Anse Michigan 1/16/15 – 1/19/15

Because our club trip to the Antler Inn in Minnesota was cancelled due to lack of snow, we have an alternate.

We plan to repeat a club trip from 2 years ago because that trip was outstanding.  The trails are beautiful and they have been receiving a LOT of snow.

The plan is as follows:

• Leave MN on Friday January 16th, 2015 and drive to the HILLTOP MOTEL in L’Anse MI  (906-524-6321).  Stay overnight.
• Saturday morning at 9:00 am sharp, we will depart by snowmobile for Big Bay, MI for lunch and fuel.  We  will probably also take a detour to Mt. Arvon.
• After lunch, we travel to the HOLIDAY INN in Marquette, MI  (906-255-1351).  Stay overnight.  There is a bar, restaurant, pool, hot-tub on site.
• Sunday morning at 9:00 am, we will meet in the sled parking area to return to the HILLTOP MOTEL either the same route or an alternate route to be determined.
• Monday morning everyone is on their own to return to Minnesota.

If you wish to go on this trip, make your reservations ASAP.  You will stay at the HILLTOP 2 nights  (1/16 and 1/18) and the HOLIDAY INN 1 night (1/17).  No rooms have been pre-reserved.

L’Anse is about a 7 hour drive (400 miles) from Minneapolis, but there also is a 1 hour time change.  You will lose an hour going there and gain 1 back on the return leg.

NOTES/COMMENTS:

• You will need a MICHIGAN trail permit available at most gas stations near a trail.  They are $45.   Get this on Friday during your drive up as there will be no opportunity to do so on Saturday morning.
• This is not a trip for novice riders or those without well maintained machines.   Once outside of L’Anse, there will be about a 50 mile stretch with NO businesses at all, no cross roads, no way to tow your machine out other than your buddy’s sled.
